Fort St John Hospital ICU Nurse Mark Minuhin with TB Vets funded ventilator

New Respiratory Technology Allows Efficiency at Fort St. John Hospital

New respiratory technology allows efficiency in Fort St. John Hospital by maximizing resources, reducing wait times, providing faster diagnosis, supporting faster referrals to specialists, and greatly improving health outcomes.

But the hospital can’t purchase all the respiratory equipment it needs without help from its generous donors.

In 2020, TB Vets donors funded a HAMILTON-G5 Mechanical Ventilator for lung-protective ventilation for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients. Although this ventilator is suitable for patients of all ages, it is especially valuable for newborns, as 560-600 babies are born each year at the hospital. It is gifts like this one from TB Vets donors that make it possible for Fort St John Hospital to deliver the best possible care.

We are very grateful to TB Vets in supporting our great hospital with this grant of $50,000. It means a great deal to our northern remote community as this contribution will help medical staff and physicians to support many more respiratory patients of all ages at the Fort St. John Hospital.

Niki Hedges, Executive Director, FSJ Hospital Foundation

Fort St. John Hospital is set in the heart of British Columbia in the Peace River region, with a population base of 61,000.*
