Supporting Research That Saves Lives

At TB Vets, we believe supporting stronger, healthier communities. That’s why we are proud to have helped fund the research of Dr. Steven Reynolds research that is now gaining international attention for improving care for critically ill patients.

A recently published BC-led clinical trial, known as the CLiCK trial, examined ways to reduce complications associated with central lines used in intensive care units (ICUs). These lines are essential for delivering medications, fluids, and nutrition to critically ill patients, but they can also lead to serious complications including infections and clotting.

The study involved 1,468 ICU patients across six Canadian hospitals and found that a specialized catheter locking solution significantly reduced complications related to central lines. The findings were published in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and presented internationally at the American Thoracic Society Conference.

We are honored that TB Vets was acknowledged among the supporters of this important work through salary support provided to Dr. Reynolds. Contributions like these demonstrate how charitable funding can help advance innovative medical research with real-world impact.

This research reflects the kind of forward-thinking innovation that improves patient outcomes not only here in British Columbia, but potentially in hospitals around the world.

Congratulations to Dr. Reynolds and the entire research team on this outstanding achievement.
