“When I first joined the TB Vets board 2 years ago, the first thing that grabbed my heart was the work we do to help children on ventilators. I feel in my core that I want to do whatever I can to help. Now I have the honour of being part of the committee that decides TB Vets’ grants. It’s heartwarming to see the difference we can make as we distribute the funds – particularly with smaller hospitals outside of urban areas. Big cities have so many more resources than small towns, and it’s important to help them deliver care.
TB Vets is responsive to the needs in our province. When the forest fires in the Okanagan happened, we knew we had to do whatever we could to help. Luckily we had extra funds to distribute, and we were able to provide additional grants to local hospitals to ensure they were equipped to help patients affected by the smoke. This nimbleness is made possible by our donors – particularly our monthly donors whose consistent support ensures we have the stability to provide as much as we can for these small hospitals. I’m looking forward to the next year of my tenure on the TB Vets board, and continuing to promote the cause in my community.”
