NEED YOUR HELP!
Stethoscopes For Students
With rising living costs and financial pressures, many students are working hard simply to stay afloat while pursuing their studies. This is especially true for Respiratory Therapy (RT) students at Thompson Rivers University.
In addition to tuition, textbooks, and living expenses, RT students are required to purchase a critical piece of professional equipment at the start of their training—a stethoscope.
A stethoscope is essential to an RT’s future. It allows students to assess lung function and detect serious conditions such as asthma, pneumonia, and collapsed lungs. It is not just a tool, but a foundational part of their ability to provide care in clinical settings.
Today, you have the opportunity to directly support a student’s entry into healthcare. A high-quality stethoscope costs $160, and with your donation, we will include a personalized card of recognition for the student who receives it.
Your support reduces financial pressure at a pivotal stage in a student’s education and ensures cost is not a barrier to entering the healthcare profession. In doing so, you help equip the next generation of respiratory therapists with the tools they need in a healthcare system that urgently needs them.
Your Support is urgently needed
While experiences vary, feedback like this reflects a consistent impact: increased confidence, clinical readiness, and a stronger sense of belonging within the healthcare community.
Imagine a student stepping into their first hospital practicum—nervous, excited, and proud—carrying their own stethoscope for the first time. That moment represents more than equipment; it represents confidence, dignity, and belief in their future.
With every $160 donation, you are sending a clear message: “I believe in you.” That encouragement carries forward into their education, clinical training, and ultimately their career in patient care.
Your support is urgently needed. The next academic cycle is approaching, and we must secure all stethoscopes by June 30th. Our goal is to provide 110 students with this essential equipment.
Beyond immediate student support, this initiative strengthens the future of respiratory health care in British Columbia. By investing in students today, you help ensure tomorrow’s healthcare system is staffed by capable, confident, and compassionate respiratory therapists ready to serve our communities.
We hope you will consider making a gift today to help a student begin their journey.
